Alright im gonna start this off with just simply how shocked i was this happened. I will give you a little back ground on my life. I grew up in central Wisconsin in a town called wausau with about 30k people, and id say about half were of other cultures. Next, my best friend is black (not to clarify my standing :)) but its just riduclous to think that their are still racists out there today. I mean what the hell are you thinking, please join society and become a good person and accept people. Like how the hell would you feel if you were minority, and treated like shit????
Alright so on to the story not going to go into much detail, for job protection ofcourse. I have simply read to many things about people losing jobs over comments on social networks. That shit aint gonna happen to me, because im not even going to say where i work.
So i was working out some merchandise into some aisles at work today with my coworker, who just so happens to be black. When a customer walked past and she asked her if she needed any help and the customer replied with a no. We proceeded to work on our project and not even a minute later the customer came straight to me while i was obviously much more ocupied than my coworker who was simply watching me put these big ass things on the shelf. So me being a good employee (insert brag) continued to help the customer. The next thing shocked me even more, was when she took me to this play house. She went on to say "not to be racist but". Stop right there alright so ever since i was young this was a huge sign that someones a racist(just saying). Alright continuing, she went on to ask if we had a play house without a colored toy on it, meaning with white toys on the picture instead.
I mean am i just that indifferent about shit like that, or am i taking to much of concern with this incident. Please leave comments/opinions below, would love to hear what you think of this situation!!!
also on the bright side!! Bankroll= just over 30 dollars which started at 0 getting to that 10k goal :P

ReplyDeleteNo your defenately not indifferent about this shit, people should understand this is 2011 in a multicultural world where racism and sectarianism is not welcome! Where I live in Glasgow, Scotland we have a divide between catholic and protestant runing back 800 years (more commonly understood to be an Northern Irish issue, but although steaming from there its still very active in Scotland).
Another major issue we have is with the "native?" people, born in the UK, and the way they treat immigrants from Poland, Czech, Slovakia and other Eastern Europe countries, you'd think we had gone back 100's of years!
This isn't as good as my first post but blah...
